BACK ON THE FIELD

The University of Dallas Women's Soccer team opens up the 2018 season on Saturday, September 1 at the University of La Verne (CA) at 7 p.m. (PST). The Crusaders will then play Whittier College on Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. (PST).

Head Coach Lexi Stinson will be entering her second year as head coach of the Crusaders. Dallas looks to improve on a 4-13-2 record in 2017 and a 2-9-1 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). They were picked sixth in the SCAC preseason polls.

UD NOTES

Dallas is returning 13 players that made double digit appearances in 2017. The Crusaders are returning the 2017 leading goal-scorer Whitney Jackson (Pryor, Okla.) Olivia Severson (LaCrosse, Wis.) allowed the second fewest goals allowed in the SCAC (11). She also grabbed 65 saves and has three shutouts in 2017.

A LOOK AT THE OPONENTS

(University of La Verne) (1-0)

-The Leopards are coming off a 9-6-3 record in 2017. A 5-6-3 conference mark in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

-Lauryn Pehanich is entering her sixth season as head coach.

- Andrea Story was second on the team with 24 shots taken last season. She added three goals and two assists last year. The senior will be someone to watch out for.

-Hanien Samara had a .863 Save Percentage last season in goal. Her counterpart, Jasmine Valadez, produced a .774 percentage. These two goalies will be back in 2018.

-These two teams have never faced each other.

-LaVerne won their first contest of 2018 against St. Katherine 13-0.

 (Whittier College) (0-0-1)

-The Poets are coming off a 12-9 record in 2017. A 6-8 conference mark in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

-Derek Hanks is entering his first year as head coach

-Miranda Yzabal was second on the team in 2017 with seven goals scored. The senior will hope to duplicate those numbers in 2018.

-Lyla Matar produced a .783 save percentage; allowing only 10 goals in 2017. She will be back in goal for her junior year.

-Dallas holds a 1-0 all-time record against the Poets. Their last meeting was back in 2001.

- Whittier tied Piedmont in their first contest in 2018.
