Women's Soccer drops Wednesday Match with Texas A&M-Texarkana

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 match on Wednesday versus Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Eagles would net two goals in the first half, and kept Dallas at bay the majority of the game.

Texas A&M-Texarkana got the offense going with an early goal at the 9:27 minute mark by Michelle Lee. Leslie Arietta provided the assist. Most of the half was back-and-forth with neither team producing many shots on goal. Each goalkeeper had a single save in the opening 45 minutes.

With less than a minute prior to intermission, Jena Arreola would complete a cross pass to the right side of the goal and lift the guests to 2-0 advantage. Fallon Keller was the Eagle that laced the cross for the final scoring play of the contests.

Dallas did increase its shot attempts in the second half to eight, after only taking three in the previous frame. In the contest, the Lady Crusaders were outshot 16-11, but did have a 6-5 shots on goal edge.

Vanessa Sanchez and Ellie Kemins each logged playing time per half in the net for the Eagles, with Sanchez taking the start. Kemins faced five shots on target in the second stanze, and would stop all five attempts to maintain the shutout.

For UD, junior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii) and freshman Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) would garner multi-shot efforts with two apiece. Both also tallied one of the six shots on frame for the home team. Other players in that category included: freshmen Kasaundra Eason and Samantha Deitschel, sophomore Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas), and senior Nicolette Perez (San Diego, Calif.)

Dallas did hold an edge in corner kicks 4-2, and Texas A&M-Texarkana was whistled for being offsides five times compared to none by UD.

Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) was saddled with the loss allowing both goals in 90 minutes between the posts. The keeper did nab three saves, giving her 120 on the year. That mark lifts her to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) lead by one. Austin College's Laura McGee is one save behind, and will be in action Thursday versus Centenary College. Both programs will play on Sunday, November 1 to end the regular season.
