Women's Soccer Unable to get by George Fox on Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-5) was defeated 2-0 on Sunday afternoon by George Fox University (2-1-1). Dallas fell to 0-3 on the season-long, five-match home stand.

Two goals for the visiting Bruins were enough, as they kept UD off the board throughout the contest. The shot difference was 13-10 in favor of George Fox. Both squads kicked seven shots apiece in the first stanza.

The first scoring play of the half was at the 13:55 minute mark by George Fox's Emma Weme. Hanna Harder got the assist as the attempt was defelected off the Dallas keeper and Weme capitalized on the rebound. Later in the closing moments before intermission, Ashley Behrens gained control of a loose ball deep inside the box and completed the goal down the middle to double the edge.

In the second half, the Lady Crusaders maintained possession a lot more, but were stifled for the second consecutive match in finding the scoring column. Freshman Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) tallied a team-high three shots and placed one of four UD shots on goal. Sophomore Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas), sophomore Alice Nelson (Jackson, Tenn.), and freshman Samantha Deitschel (San Antonio, Texas) also added shots on goal.

Junior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii), sophomore Alexa Acquista (Las Vegas, Nev.), and senior Mariah Fairbanks (Rocklin, Calif.) rounded out the shots for the home team.

Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) nabbed three saves in 90 minutes of play in the net.

Becca Allen produced a game-high four shots, with one on goal, while Weme followed with three shots and placed one of her two shots on target into the back of the twine. Kacie Morgan also had a multiple shot outing.

Taking the win in the shutout was Morgan Bars (2-1-1) with four saves in the complete-match effort.

Dallas did hold an edge in corner kicks 3-1 and committed fewer fouls by a difference of four. The Bruins fouled eight times and were offside five times compared the UD being off only once.
