Women's Soccer falls 1-0 on Friday

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (0-2) dropped a 1-0 decision on Friday night at William Jessup University (3-0). UD remains in search of its first goal of the young campaign.

The Warriors scored at the 18:19 minute mark on a striker kick from the far left side by Cierra Munoz. That would be enough offense for the home team, but the Lady Crusaders did limit the damage after allowing 28 shots and 11 shots on goal overall.

Dallas posted a pair of shot attempts in both halves, and also added two corner kicks while WJU received six opportunities.

Sophomore Alice Nelson (Jackson, Tenn.) finished with two shots and put one on goal. Freshman Kathryn Zepeda (Lynnwood, Wash.) kicked her lone shot on goal to have a perfect percentage, and fellow classmate Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) rounded out the offense for UD in the setback.

Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) was saddled with the loss, but picked up a season-high 10 saves against 11 shots faced. The defending conference tri-newcomer-of-the-year worked 90 minutes and deflected six saves in the first half.

The Lady Crusaders would be credited with their first shot by Nelson at the 22:45 point in the opening stanza. The second-year forward would post the final effort with a shot that was collected by William Jessup's keeper Alison Marlow in the 78th minute.

Munoz, the Warriors' difference maker tonight, led the squad with five shots and three shots on goal. Yvette Perez followed with four and Marissa Sanders and Celia Rangel chipped in three attempts each.
