University of Dallas' Kristina Corona recognized as 2012 SCAC Women's Soccer 'Coach of the Year'

Story per the SCAC office:

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Kristina Corona, in her third-year as head coach at the University of Dallas, has been named the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Coach-of-the-Year.

"I am very humbled and overjoyed by this experience," Corona said. "Moreover, I am thankful for being surrounded by such great coaches in the SCAC and for their overall support."

Corona led Dallas to their first-ever appearance in the SCAC Tournament and to the 2012 SCAC Championship game where they fell 1-0 to Trinity University.

She guided the Crusaders to a 4-3-1 SCAC record and a 12-8-1 overall mark in 2012.

The 4-3-1 SCAC record was a two-game improvement from a year ago, and the 12-8-1 overall record was an improvement upon last season's 11-7-2 season.

Corona has posted a 30-26-4 record (.533) in her three seasons at the helm of the women's soccer program at Dallas.

The SCAC Coach-of-the-Year award is the first one of her career. Corona received three votes from her peers in the voting process. Lance Key of Trinity received the remaining two votes.
