Women's Soccer rallies with three unanswered goals to sink Howard Payne University, 3-2

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team (2-0) upended Howard Payne University (HPU), 3-2, on Sunday afternoon in a come-from-behind victory. 

HPU (0-1) struck first, netting their first goal in the 33rd-minute on a strike from Leslie Jones and followed that with their second goal of the game in the 47th minute. 

The Lady Crusaders clawed back, however, with three unanswered goals. 

Junior forward Claire Sexton (Salem, Va.) connected on an 18-yard boot in the 48th-minute to put Dallas on the scoreboard. 

Nicole Johnson (Houston, Texas) scored the equalizer on a 25-yard strike in 52nd, with Sexton assisting on the opportunity. 

In the 78th minute, the Lady Crusaders tallied the game-winner on a goal from sophomore Michelle Carpenter (Sugar Land, Texas). 

The Dallas defense played a solid game, only allowing HPU to record 10 shots. Junior goalkeeper Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) needed to turn away just one shot on net.

Dallas will play their next game on Saturday, Sept. 8, in a 2 p.m. contest versus Schreiner University (0-2-1) in Kerrville, Texas.
