Women's Soccer pounced by Sewanee Tigers in road test

After tying Oglethorpe Univeristy on Saturday, the University of Dallas women's soccer team (3-4-1) was in action Sunday, taking on the Sewanee Tigers (4-5) in Atlanta, GA.

UD freshman goalie Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, VA/Trinity at Meadowview) was continuously attacked by the Tigers in the 7-0 defeat, in which Bess Goodman scored four goals. Goodman's first goal, which gave Sewanee a 1-0 lead, came unassisted at 4:22.

This deficit held until the 58-minute mark, when Lizzie Butler put the Tigers up 2-0. From that point, things spiraled out of control for UD, as Sewanee tacked on five more goals, much to the chagrin of Crusader head coach Kristina Corona.

Freshman forward Claire Sexton (Salem, Va/Salem H.S.) registered two shots on goal for UD, the team's only shots. Sewanee, meanwhile, controlled the ball, peppering the UD defense 37 times, while recording 22 shots on goal.

With sports, there will be ebbs and flows during the course of any given season. It's important for UD to learn from this outing and show character in gearing up for their next game -- a road tilt against Trinity University, on Friday, October 8, at 6p.m.
