Women's Soccer reaches 2OT on road versus Oglethorpe

90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods was not enough to determine a winner Friday afternoon in a match pitting the University of Dallas versus Oglethorpe University. The match, which was played in Atlanta, GA, featured just one goal for each team, which both came in the first half.

Dallas jumped out to an early lead on an unassisted breakaway goal by freshman forward Claire Sexton (Salem, VA/Salem H.S.) 6:01 into the contest. Of note, Sexton led the team with five shots and two shots on goal. Oglethorpe would score the final and tying goal of the game 19 minutes later. Freshman defender Emily Rogers (San Antonio, TX/MacArthur H.S.), who registered a shot on net, was given a red card during this tilt and will not be able to play the next match. UD freshman keeper Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, VA/Trinity at Meadowview) faced 19 shots, saving five while only letting one squirt past her goal line.

UD will play road games next week as they visit Sewanee, Trinity, and Southwestern. The first of these matches, Sewanee, will be played in TN, on Sunday, October 3, at 11:00am.
