Women's Soccer shutout by Birmingham-Southern

The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Birmingham-Southern College at Crusader Field on Sunday afternoon. The short-fall brings UD's overall record to 3-3 on the season.

Birmingham-Southern midfielder M'Kayl Lewis notched what would prove the game-winning goal in the 3-minute mark of the first half. Her teammate Brittany Soto however doubled her goal output, scoring in the 28-minute and yet again in the 37-minute.

The Crusaders were on their heels for the majority of this match, as the Panthers made numerous crisp passes in the offensive zone, leading to a 30-3 shot differential.

With that noted, the top players for UD were freshman goalkeeper Brigid Hasson (Fairfax, VA/Trinity at Meadowview H.S.), senior defender and co-captain Mary Gaffney (Cascade, CO/Manitou Springs H.S.), and freshman defender Emily Rogers (San Antonio, TX/MacArthur H.S.).

Hasson had 10 saves while Rogers and Gaffney also helped prevent many scoring chances. Overall, the defense played well, but the team had trouble sustaining attacks in Panther' territory.

UD looks to bounce back above .500 on Friday, October 1, against Oglethorpe College.
