Womens Soccer Wins Second Straight
UD extended their winning streak to two games Friday afternoon
after defeating McMurry University by a count of 3-1 raising their
record at home to 2-1 and 2-2 overall on the season. After holding
McMurry to one shot in the first half, the Lady Crusaders opened up
a one goal lead following junior captain and midfielder Hannah
Langsfeld’s (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque Academy) goal 15
minutes into the first half. Though UD let one slip by early in the
second half for a 1-1 score, junior forward Mary Ruth Alzheimer
(Augusta, GA/Alleluia Community School) and freshman midfielder
Emma Dugan (Wayzata, MN/Providence Academy) each tacked on goals to
take a commanding two score lead and seal the game with less than
three minutes remaining. Freshman midfielder Marie Meagher (Grand
Forks, ND/Red River H.S.), senior forward/midfielder Lindsay Arend
(Napa, CA/Trinity Grammar & Prep), and junior
forward/midfielder Inez Garza each contributed assists while senior
keeper Jennifer Boryca (Piqua, OH/Piqua H.S.) stopped 3 out of 4
shots by McMurry.
UD will look to continue their streak against Southwestern
Assemblies of God University once gain on home turf on Tuesday,
September 15 at 5:00pm.
