Pauletti, Elfelt, and Dixon Named All-SCAC 1st Team; Haeuser, Riley, and Rodda gain Honorable Mention

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In exclusive voting by head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the women's lacrosse 2021 All-SCAC Awards and Teams were announced on Friday, May 14.

Half of the six members selected from the University of Dallas qualified for the SCAC First Team All-Conference, while those in the remaining group were named Honorable Mention. The All-SCAC First Team picks were divided by positions. Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) made it for attack, Lizzy Elfelt (Brookfield, Wis.) made it for midfielder, and Gabby Dixon (San Diego, Calif.) was named among defense.

Sophia Haeuser (Napa, Calif.), Maureen Riley (Gilroy, Calif.), and Kathleen Rodda (Granite Bay, Calif.) rounded out the sextet of Crusaders named for the awards by being on Honorable Mention.

Pauletti garnered her second SCAC All-Conference accolade in just as many seasons the league started presenting them once it started sponsoring women's lacrosse again in 2019. Pauletti was an honorable mention that campaign. She was the lone senior on the 2021 team and led the team in points and goals with 19 apiece. Pauletti was the top option on the attack for the Crusadsers, as she placed 34 of her 45 shots on cage. Both were team-bests, with the next highest being 10 and 16, respectively. Her total amount of goals counted for fifth best in the league.

She finished seventh at UD in goals and points with 67 apiece.

Elfelt was the next highest shooter for UD in regards to attempts and shots on target, as mentioned above. In her second season with the Crusaders, Elfelt won a team-high 20 draw controls and contributed 22 ground balls and six caused turnovers. She was often looked upon to transition the ball for Dallas. She did put in three goals for all her points this spring.

Dixon was another classmate of Elfelt's to hold the ball in transition and try to setup scoring opportunities on offense. Dixon was a top defender for the Crusaders as well, managing a team-high 44 ground balls which is tied for 13th in the program. Dixon also caused 16 turnovers, which led the squad and is now ranked 10th in just 13 matches played due to a shortened season her freshman year. She is within five more of being in sixth and 10 more of tying the top five for that category. Dixon did contribute on the offensive side of the ball as well with four goals and added an assist for five points. She made the most of her shots with four on cage and six total attempts.

Haeuser, Rodda played in all eight matches this spring in their first seasons. Rodda served as the goalkeeper and led the conference in saves with 73. She played in all 480 minutes and faced 296 shots. Haeuser started seven games and won seven draw controls and picked up 12 ground balls.
