UD Women's Lacrosse to Host 2021 SCAC Tournament

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas is the host site of the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which will be played May 1-2. Three teams are in the tournament with the first round featuring No. 2 Seed Southwestern University and No. 3 Seed University of Dallas. Start time on Saturday is at 12 p.m. The winner will advance to play the No. 1 Seed Colorado College on Sunday at 11 a.m.

There will be livestats for both matches and the games will be streamed free of charge on College TV Ticket.

A reminder that per the SCAC Spectator Policy, that only Dallas fans will be permitted at the match on Saturday and possibly on Sunday should the Crusaders advance.

The Crusaders are 0-7 this season and 0-3 in SCAC play. They played Saturday's opponent last time out with an 18-7 setback in Georgetown, Texas. Dallas had played back-to-back days and was playing on the road. Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) has been the top scorer this spring for UD with 19 points, all on goals. Her total amount of goals ranks fourth in the SCAC. Other players to watch for UD are Gabby Dixon (San Diego, Calif.) with a team-leading 35 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. Lizzy Elfelt (Brookfield, Wis.) has won 14 draw controls for a team-high.

The lone Crusader on the roster that has played in the SCAC Tournament is Pauletti, which came in 2019 at host Colorado College. UD fell 20-9 and Paulletti registered a hat trick, as she notched 11 shots, four shots on cage, and four ground balls.

Southwestern enters with a 5-4 record, as the Pirates fell twice to Colorado College in the regular season and defeated UD in its only meeting last week. The Pirates are 1-3 away from the home confines. Southwestern is paced offensively by Raven Garcia with 34 goals and 12 assists. Both are team-bests for 46 points. Deanna Harnes has also posted 34 goals to match the team-high and comes in second on the team with 42 points. Emma Pertuit will be the player to watch on ball control, as she has eclipsed 100 draw controls for a team-high and is also tops on the squad for ground balls (72), caused turnovers (18).
