THE LEAD VS. THE VIKINGS
The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team is home again on Wednesday to host Berry College for a 5 p.m. matchup. Dallas (1-3) defeated Culver-Stockton College last Sunday for the first victory of the season and for new head coach, Kaitlin Cochran.
Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) scored four goals to lead UD's offense in that one and ranks second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) with 13. Ann Rushing (Brighton, Mich.), Jordyn Buell (Murrieta, Calif.), Isabella Flynn (Seattle, Wash.), and Teagan Walsh (Chevy Chase, Md.) all have found the scoring column this season, too.
Gabby Dixon (San Diego, Calif.) earned SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in last week's triumph. She notched five caused turnovers and tied a game-high eight ground balls. That mark for caused turnovers was one shy of tying the single-game record done twice by UD's Jessie Koster (Feb. 9, 2014) and Colby Madrigal (Apr. 3, 2016.
These programs have never faced each other.
Berry (1-7) is on a five-game losing streak and has yet to win away from home, going 0-2 in true road contests. Its latest result was an 18-6 setback to Carthage at neutral site Southwestern University. Miranda Smith and Maddie Myers headline the offense with double figures in goals with 13 and 10, respectively. Smith had dished six assists, while Myers has five. 22 of Berry's 38 goals have been assisted. Kristina Jones and Andrea Lindgren have each played over 200 minutes in the goalkeeper position and combined for 89 saves.
