UD Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Johnson Resigns

IRVING, Texas – University of Dallas women's lacrosse head coach Destinee Johnson announced this week her resignation from the program, as she has accepted another coaching position at a different institution. Johnson announced her final day at Dallas will be on January 3.

A national search for the ninth head coach of the program has begun immediately.

Johnson was at the helm the last three seasons for the Crusaders, arriving in the fall of 2017. Johnson coached six players to the inaugural Independent Women's Lacrosse School (IWLS) all-conference team in her first season. In 2018, Johnson guided Erika Keever to an MVP season viewed by her teammates and was on her second IWLS All-Conference Team. She was a top scorer all three seasons with Johnson along with teammate Lexi Leite, who became just the third player to eclipse 100 career goals. Johnson also had Christiane Flynn named with an All-IWLS accolade in 2018.

In 2019, the Crusaders competed in their first season with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The team claimed the number three seed in the conference postseason and had a quartet of players named to the All-SCAC Teams. This included Mason Cosgrove and Ella Pedrozo, who were dual-sport athletes joining lacrosse as a second sport, to all-conference first team selections. Leite and Emily Pauletti were honorable mention.

The UD women's lacrosse program garnered other record notables during Johnson's coaching stint, with Leite's big offensive numbers in career points (183) and goals (159) to rank second all-time in each. Alex Parkey picked up 22 draw controls for the single-match record under Johnson's watch.
