THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team enjoys its final home games of the regular season on March 12-13. The Lady Crusaders host Benedictine College (KS) on Saturday and then Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday. Both start times are slated for 11 a.m.

Dallas is 2-4 and has fallen in the past two games. The most recent setback was a 13-6 result at Franklin College on Tuesday. The Lady Crusaders are completing the final pair of matches on a stretch of five games in nine days.

Benedictine and IIT are playing each other in a neutral match on March 11 at 4 p.m. on Crusader Field.


CRUSADER NOTES

-Senior Colby Madrigal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) leads most categories for the Lady Crusaders. This includes a career-high in goals (13) and team-highs in: points (14), shots (32), shots on cage (26), groundballs (18), draw controls (18), and caused turnovers (14).

- Fellow classmate Hayley Rodgers (Houston, Texas) and freshman Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) each have recorded eight goals. The duo have 11 and 10 points respectively.

- Rodgers has picked up 12 groundballs and draw controls.

- Leite has shot 14 of her 18 attempts on cage.

- Sophomore Sarah Schmitz (Huntington, N.Y.) has contributed nine points with six goals and three assists, which tie Leite for a team-high.

- Madrigal, Rodgers, and Leite have all etched points in five games for Dallas.

SCOUTING THE RAVENS

Benedictine College sports a 2-1 record this season coming into the weekend at Irving, Texas. This past Tuesday featured the most recent victory with a 17-7 final over Clarke University. The Ravens are on a four-game swing away from the home confines.

BC has compiled 36 goals in three matches thus far, going 1-1 in goals decided by one. Based on available statistics, Elizabeth Darrow has been the leading scorer in both wins, delivering nine overall. She tallied five off 11 shots in the most recent triumph. In the last game, five players: Caitlyn Chickey, Tara Lobb, Toni Nelson, Clare Hanson, and Julianne Smith have posted a pair of netters.

Suzy Dillingham worked 60 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.

The Ravens are in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and are part of the Heart of America Conference.

Saturday marks the first time these programs will play each other.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET HAWKS

Illinois Institute of Technology is 1-1 on the season and is coming off a 17-11 setback last Tuesday to Concordia University (WI). IIT has amassed 11 goals in both games this season. The trip to Irving, Texas, presents two contests sandwiched on the four-game road trip.

Isabel Fitzpatrick-Meyers and Alyssa DeLuca lead the team with five goals and are two of three players tied with six points. Helping form the trio of Scarlet Hawks is Madison Meredith - she has four goals along with Isabella Rubin.

Two goalies have shared time between the pipes, with Jennifer Young making two starts. Abbie Reynolds has notched 11 of the team's 14 saves and logged 80:01 minutes.

Dallas won the lone meeting in history amongst these programs last year on the road in 13-10 fashion. Junior Gwen Mohler (San Francisco, Calif.), Madrigal, and Rodgers each tallied a goal. Cassandra Reineke and Meyers gave hat tricks for IIT.

SENIOR DAY

Prior to Sunday's match, the Lady Crusaders will recognize Madrigal, Rodgers, and Esther Gomez (Westford, Mass.) in their final home game of the year as part of "Senior Day."


UP NEXT

Dallas is off the rest of the month, and resumes play on April 2 at Carroll University. The next day, UD heads to Loras College.
