THE LEAD

The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team begins its busiest stretch of the season with five games over the next nine days. The lengthy span begins with three road matches in four days starting on March 5th and 6th. Dallas will be at Thomas More College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. (EST) start and Hanover College on Sunday for a 12 p.m. (EST) start. The road trip ends at Franklin College on Tuesday with the first draw control at 4 p.m. (EST).

The Lady Crusaders are 1-2 on the campaign and have dropped their past two. The most recent outing was a 13-8 setback to Wartburg College on Sunday. Senior Colby Madrigal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) was a goal shy of a career-best with four.  


CRUSADER NOTES

- Madrigal and freshman Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) are tied with the team-lead in goals with six apiece. Leite paces the squad with eight points.

- Leite and senior Hayley Rodgers (Houston Texas,) both have 12 shots and two assists.

- Rodgers and sophomore Sarah Schmitz (Huntington, Texas) have each chipped in three goals. Rodgers ranks second with five points thanks to a pair of helpers.

- Madrigal is leading the groundball, caused turnover, and draw control categories with 10, 8, and 9, respectively. Freshman Erika Keever (Fort Worth, Texas) is second in groundballs with five and netted her first collegiate goal last Sunday.

A LOOK AT EACH OPPONENT

Thomas More College enters tomorrow's match 0-2 on the season. The Saints played Calvin College on Friday, and fell 12-4. They dropped the season-opener about a week ago to Muskingum University in 14-9 fashion. Josie Perrino led the team with four goals in the match.

(THOMAS MORE SEASON STATS)

Hanover College has played twice and fallen in both contests in the past week. The most recent outing was a 9-8, overtime game at Benedictine University (Ill.) on Wednesday. DA Rivera-Rodriguez leads the team with five goals and points. Rachel Davis is right behind with four goals, and the duo have each attempted nine shots. Cassie Hendrickson is tied for second on team with four points having tallied a pair of points and assists.

(HANOVER SEASON STATS)

Franklin College is opening on Tuesday versus the Lady Crusaders. The Grizzlies went 3-8 last season and were selected sixth in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference preseason poll.

(FRANKLIN ROSTER)

Dallas will play these programs for the first time in school history.


UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The final two home games are scheduled next weekend on March 12th and 13th. The Lady Crusaders host Benedictine College (Kan.) and Illinois Institute of Technology, respectively.
