Lauren Martin joins Dallas staff as Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas announced the hiring of Lauren Martin to the Head Coaching position for the women's lacrosse team. Martin becomes the seventh person to be appointed at the helm of the Dallas program that began in 2004.

Prior to joining the UD coaching staff, Martin served as the head women's lacrosse coach for Cornell College from September 2013-15. She was the first at the institution, as she was responsible for starting the varsity lacrosse program, and fielded the first squad during the 2015 campaign. Martin spent the 2013-14 academic year assembling her first roster.

Prior to working at the helm of the Rams, Martin spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She joined the staff in 2011, which was the third season for the women's lacrosse program there.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Martin was a standout player at NCAA Division II Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Martin earned an athletic scholarship to play lacrosse for the Bobcats, and suited up three seasons as the starting midfielder. The two-time team captain was named team Most Valuable Player her junior season. She earned a spot on the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team in 2010 and 2011.

Martin earned her Bachelor of Science in physical education along with a teachers' license at Lees-McRae. She added a master's in business administration from Lake Erie in May 2013.

Martin inherits a Dallas team that posted a 5-7 mark in 2015.
