Women's Lacrosse soars to consecutive wins on Sunday versus the Eagles

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (2-3) defeated Benedictine University (0-5) on Sunday afternoon, 13-7. Dallas won consecutive contests for the first time since the 2011 campaign, with triumphs on Apr. 15 and 17 against College of St. Elizabeth and Notre Dame, respectively.

The Lady Crusaders broke double figures in scoring for the second-straight time as well, netting three goals shy of their season-best claimed a week ago versus Cornell College.

UD posted a 7-2 halftime advantage, and were able to maintain control throughout most of this one.

Junior Hayley Rodgers (Houston, Texas) began the scoring with the first of a season-high four goals. The attacker's netter occurred with her team down a player on a penalty, but would not hinder an offense that rattled off a season most, 30 attempts.

The Navy and White found the back of the cage three more times and held Benedictine scoreless until Nikki Gullett broke through with 10:45 in the opening stanza. After nipping the margin in half, the Lady Crusaders finished the frame on a 3-0 run.

Benedictine tried to muster a rally with a goal from Samantha Link just over three minutes into the second frame, but four unanswered by Dallas, including two more from Rodgers on her impressive day, helped lift her squad to 2-2 on the six-game, home stretch.

Rodgers attempted six shots, five on goal, while picking up a team-high seven ground balls. She last mustered a quartet of scoring results on Apr. 13, 2014 versus Fontbonne University. That was the second time that season the native of Houston, Texas, hit that mark. She topped it with five in two outings last year as well.

Senior Mary Hilker (Haslett, Mich.) also managed four goals, which gave her back-to-back games with at least a hat trick. The midfielder attempted a season most six shots, placing five on target.

Freshman Erin Chadwick (Tampa Bay, Fla.) continued her strong string of performances with two goals. The pair of netters increase her total to eight on the home stand. She also dished out a pair of assists to give her six points.

Chadwick led UD with nine attempts.

For BenU, Becca Gullet reflected the only multiple goal effort with two. Gabby Rowe took seven shots for a team-high, and was one of six different players to score. Rounding out the unit with her and both Gulletts included: Jasmine Moreno, Faye Tsogas, and Link.

Picking up the win for Dallas was senior Christine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.) with seven saves against 14 shots in 60 minutes. Her counterpart, Hannah Smith allowed 13 goals while nabbing 15 saves.
