Season-high scoring output Falls shy for Women's Lacrosse on Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (0-3) was nipped 8-6 by Oklahoma Baptist University (5-0) on Saturday afternoon. Dallas posted season-highs in several offensive categories, including: six goals, 19 shots, 11 shots on goal, and 28 ground balls.

OBU's seven-goal opening stanza was too much to overcome for the Navy and White, as the road team remained undefeated on the campaign.

Senior Meghan Falconer (Kohler, Wis.) tied a team-high two goals and displayed a perfect shot on goal percentage in the affair. The midfielder also matched a team-best three draw controls, and got UD on the board with a netter with 22:17 in the first half.

Matching Falconer with three draw controls was junior Hayley Rodgers (Houston, Texas) to go along with four attempts in shooting.

The Bison started the contest with a 2-0 edge, but Falconer's goal cut the margin in half. Three-straight shots that reached the back of the cage swung the momentum in favor of the Green and White, before freshman Erin Chadwick (Tampa Bay, Fla.) ended the stretch.

The rookie fired four shots, all on target, to pace the Lady Crusaders and posted a pair of goals to lift her season total to three.

At intermission, Dallas trailed 7-3.

Falconer's other netter about a minute into the second half shifted the tide towards the home squad's favor, but Oklahoma Baptist stifled the offense with a counter goal with 17:57 and held off a late UD effort with under a minute.

It was not enough for the Navy and White to achieve, with the final being a two-goal setback.

The Lady Crusaders were outshot 28-19, but did hold a 28-23 difference in ground balls on OBU.

Senior Anne Belton (Luray, Va.) picked up the most on the team and tied a game-most with five. The defender also etched her first goal of the year in the second frame, with 10:12 remaining.

Fellow classmate Mary Hilker (Haslett, Mich.) wrapped up the scoring members with the final connection in the last 49 seconds of regulation. Hilker added three shot attempts, with two on goal.

For the Bison, Emily Gilbert notched a game-high six shots with five on goal. She matched Kyra Gilbert with a pair of goals each, as Hannah Dowell, Allison Ingrim, Ashley Snow, and Maysn Ungerer rounded out the scoring performers.

In between the pipes for Oklahoma Baptist was Sabrina Attaway (5-0) claiming five saves against 11 shots faced.

Her counterpart senior Christine Jablonsky (Colorado Springs, Colo.) smothered a season-high 13 saves while facing 21 attempts.
