Becky Williams becomes fourteenth recipient of University of Dallas Scholar-Athlete Award

IRVING, Texas - A banquet was held on Friday, May 4, at the Ed Maher Athletic Center to honor senior women's lacrosse player Becky Williams, who in 2012 became the fourteenth recipient of the University of Dallas Athletic Department's Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award.

Williams compiled a 3.86 grade point average as a Psychology major, and is scheduled to walk for graduation on Sunday, May 14.

Appearing in 12 games in her senior campaign, Williams tallied two goals as a midfielder/defender. For her career, she tabulated nine goals and eight assists, while achieving 67 ground balls and 15 draw controls.

The University of Dallas Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award was first implemented in 1984 and given to Greg Roper -- a current Dallas Associate Professor of English. Since the award's inception, there have been 14 different winners. The award is handed annually to the letter-winning varsity student-athlete with the highest GPA; freshmen are not eligible.
