Women's Lacrosse celebrates 'Senior Day' versus Pacific University (OR), falls 19-6 to Boxers at home; Salotto's five-goals run season-total to 38

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (2-5, 0-2 SCAC) was defeated 19-6 by Pacific University (Ore.) amid 'Senior Day' festivities early Monday evening at Crusader Field.

Prior to the game, three of Dallas' seniors, whom were playing in their final home game, were recognized for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program.

The Lady Crusader senior class is comprised of 5-foot-9 defense/midfielder Katherine Dautenhahn (Tulsa, Okla./Tulsa School of Arts & Science), 5-foot-4 midfielder Teresa Tesoriero (Phoenix, Ariz./Veritas Prep.), 5-foot-1 defense Julianne Watkins (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's H.S.) and 5-foot-4 defense/midfielder Becky Williams (Lyman, S.C./Marianapolis Prep.).

Pacific struck early and often in this one, as the Lady Boxers recorded five-of-the-first-six goals of the contest, before taking a 10-4 lead into halftime.

Mary Salotto (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline H.S.) netted the first score of the second half, a free position shot for Dallas at 29:04. Salotto continues to assert her will on opposing goalkeepers, as the 5-foot-1 junior midfielder finished with five goals versus Pacific to increase her season total to 38 goals through seven games. She also recorded a game-high 11 draw controls against Pacific.

With five games remaining on the 2012 schedule for the Lady Crusaders, it is possible Salotto will threaten the program's individual season scoring record, 56 goals, a number achieved by Christine McFarland during the 2010 season.

5-foot-3 sophomore attack Rose Sweeney's (Bolingbrook, Ill./Benet Academy) goal at 23:46 -- assisted by Tesoriero -- helped diminish Pacific's lead to 11-6.

Dallas and 5-foot-3 sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Mason (Elgin, Texas/Elgin H.S.) had little answer for the Lady Boxers down the stretch. Pacific rattled off eight unanswered goals en route to a 19-6 victory. Mason managed 13 saves after being peppered with 32 shots on goal.

Pacific won the ground balls statistic, 34-14, and were 6-of-11 on free position shots.
