Women's Lacrosse can't tame Panthers, as Birmingham-Southern College (Ala.) spoils 'Senior Day' for Lady Crusaders

IRVING, Texas - In their last home game of the 2011 season, the University of Dallas women's lacrosse team (1-8) fell to Birmingham-Southern College, 13-6, on Thursday afternoon at Crusader Field.

Dallas played a significantly better second half, scoring four goals in comparison to the Panthers' six, while the Lady Crusaders shot twice as much in the second period.

In the tilt, senior midfielder Christine McFarland (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park H.S.) led Dallas with three goals, one assist, two ground balls and four draw controls. Sophomore attack Mary Salotto (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline H.S.) contributed two goals of her own, as well as a ground ball and three draw controls. Teresa Tesoriero (Phoenix, Ariz./Veritas Prep) scored a goal off a nice assist from McFarland. Tesoriero also had three ground balls, a draw control, and a caused turnover.

Dallas tied Birmingham-Southern in draw controls, with 10, but the Lady Crusaders couldn't combat being forced into 22 turnovers.

Freshman goalie Samantha Mason (Elgin, Texas/Elgin H.S.) had another solid performance, amassing nine saves, two ground balls, in addition to creating 13 successful clears.

Dallas ventures to Calif. for their next game, where they'll battle Marymount College, on Sunday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m.
