Birmingham-Southern Too Much for Dallas Lacrosse

Fresh off a 14-9 victory of North Central College in Birmingham, AL, the University of Dallas lacrosse team lost to the experienced Birmingham-Southern College Panthers in Birmingham 19-3.

UD fell behind 7-0 before freshman attack/midfielder Mary Salotto (Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline H.S.) got them on the board with a goal assisted by junior defender Becky Williams (Lyman, SC/Marianapolis Prep).  Junior midfielder/attack Christine McFarland (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park Memorial H.S.) added 2 more unassisted goals in the first half, but the Crusaders were still down by 5 at the break.  The Panthers tightened up their defense after halftime and shutout Dallas in the second half while adding 8 more goals for the 19-3 win.  Salotto added a groundball and a draw control, McFarland led the team with 5 draw controls and tied for the team lead with 4 groundball pickups, and Williams added 4 groundball pickups and a caused turnover.

The Dallas lacrosse team is back it tomorrow afternoon for a neutral game in Birmingham against the Carthage College Redman at 2:00pm.  The 1-6 Crusaders hope to get back in the win column in the matchup against the first year program from Racine, WI.
