UD Lacrosse Loses First Game of Season

In the first game of the season, the UD women's lacrosse team lost 3-23 to the University of Redlands at Crusader Field in Irving, TX. The Redlands held an 11-1 halftime lead before coming away with a big 23-3 victory. Freshman midfielder/attack Mary Salotto (Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline H.S.) got UD on the board with a first half goal. Junior midfielder/attack Christine McFarland (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park Memorial H.S.) registered UD's second goal early in the second half. Salotto scored UD's final goal with 16 seconds left on the clock by scoring on a free position shot.

McFarland led the team with three draw controls while causing two turnovers and picking up one groundball. Besides Salotto's two goals, she tied for the team lead with two ground ball pickups as did teammate and sophomore defender Teresa Tesoriero (Phoenix, AZ/Veritas Prep).

UD has four days off before their next game which is on March 4th against York College. The home game starts at 4:00pm.
