Women's Golf in Fourth after First Round of SCAC Championships

WHITNEY, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team is in fourth place after the first of three rounds at the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted at the White Bluff Resort in Whitney, Texas.

Trinity are the day one leaders with a score of 315 (+27), giving themselves a 13-stroke lead over second place Southwestern University.  The Crusaders posted a round one score of 357 (+69), leading fifth place Schreiner by 12 strokes and trailing third place St. Thomas by 16 strokes.

Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern University is the individual leader after shooting 74 (+2) in round one.  Kimberly Burch leads the Crusaders in third place, trailing Erickson by three strokes with a 77 (+5) in round one.  Burch leads the field in Par 5 scoring as the only golfer to shoot under par, notching birdies on both Hole 11 and Hole 16.

The rest of the Crusaders sit in the bottom half of the standings.  Clair Kirby is second on the team in 18th place with a 92 (+20).

Madi Meduna and Lauren Waltzer both shot 94 (+22) to end the day in a three-way tie for 20th.  Gabby Ramirez shot 101 to end the day in a tie for 29th.

As a team, Dallas is tied for second with four total birdies on the day.

The Crusaders will compete in round two of the tournament Monday morning, with a shotgun start scheduled for 10:00 am.
