Women's Golf Competes in Space City Classic for Spring Opener

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team finished round one of the Space City Classic in Houston, Texas on Monday.  The Crusaders ended day one in sixth place in the field of 10 teams with a score of 330 (+46).  They have a nine stroke lead over seventh place Schreiner University and are one stroke behind fifth place S. Thomas.

Mary Hardin-Baylor are the current leaders with a score of 302 (+18) and hold a seven stroke lead over the hosts, Trinity University.

Annie Piggott of Millsaps College is the individual leader after shooting 70 in round one (-1); she has a two stroke lead over second place Sarah Kmiecik of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Kimberly Burch isn't far off as the front runner for Dallas, sitting in third place with a round one score of 73, just one stroke off tying her program record of 72.

Madi Meduna is T24 with a score of 84 (+13), sitting seven strokes outside the top 10.  Lauren Waltzer is in a five-way tie for 29th with a score of 85 (+15), and Clair Kirby is right behind in a two-way tie for 34th with an 87 (+16).  Gabby Ramirez rounds out the field for Dallas with a score of 100 on the day in 51st.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow.  Dallas will start on the back nine, with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:00 am.
