Crusaders Take 5th, Burch Takes 5th at Texas Cup

RICHARDSON, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Texas Cup, hosted by the University of Texas-Dallas.  The Crusaders finished +132 for the tournament with a four stroke lead over Millikin University; the hosts, UTD, won the event at +50 with an 18 stroke lead over the runners-up, Trinity.

After shooting a 77 to finish round one in fourth place, Kimberly Burch shot an 83 in round two, dropping one place to finish T5 as the frontrunner for UD. Burch was tied for second in Par 3 scoring and was in the top 10 in both total pars (16) and birdies (5).

Claire Kirby was the biggest mover for UD on the day, shaving three strokes off her round one score to shoot an 89 and climb four spots for sole possession of 32nd.  Gabby Ramirez shot a 91, one stroke better than her round one score, and climbed two spots to 34th.  Madi Meduna shot a 96, falling four spots to T37.  Lauren Waltzer had a huge turnaround after a difficult round one, cutting 19 strokes from her round one score to shoot a 93 and climb three spots on the leaderboard to 48th.

The Crusaders have one regular season event remaining before the SCAC Championship.  They will compete in the West Region Invitational hosted by Southwestern University starting on Monday, April 3.
