Burch Takes Sixth at Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team wrapped up comeptition in the Alamo City Classic hosted by Trinity University on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in fifth place in the field of six SCAC schools at +111, on stroke ahead of Schreiner University and 28 strokes behind fourth place Texas Lutheran.  Trinity were the champions of their home event at +47 with an eleven stroke lead over second plac Southwestern.

Kimberly Burch nearly replicated her round one score with a 78 to lead the Crusaders, tying for sixth place while being in the top three in Par 5 scoring and top five in the tournament with 21 pars.  She was just four strokes from a top three finish and 11 strokes behind the champion, Wynter Flores of Texas Lutheran. Clair Kirby shaved off six strokes from her round one total, climbing six spots on the leaderboard to 26th with an 83 in round two.  Lauren Waltzer did exactly what she did yesterday and shot an 87, dropping one spot on the leaderboard to 28th as Kirby passed her.  Gabby Ramirez rounded out the field for Dallas finishing in 30th with a round two score of 90.

The Crusaders have their final event of the fall in about two weeks time.  They will host the Crusader Invitational at the Winstar Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma starting on Monday, October 24.
