Burch Takes Second at SCAC Championship

BLANCO, Texas - The University of Dallas women's golf team wrapped up competition in the SCAC Conference Championship on Tuesday.  The Crusaders dropped one spot on the leaderboard from day one despite shaving one stroke off their team total for a round two score of 350.  They finished 29 strokes ahead of sixth place Schreiner, and 74 strokes behind the champions, Trinity University, who demolished the field with a round two score of 304.

The race for first was a tight one after day one, with Kimberly Burch just one stroke behind the leader, Trinity's Kiona Hsiu after shooting a 76 in round one.  Trinity Le of St. Thomas was sitting in third, one stroke behind Burch, and Linsey Garza of Southwestern was just three strokes behind in fourth place.  Le and Garza would both tumble down the leaderboard, with Le falling to T7 and Garza dropping all the way to T15.  Burch kept herself within striking distance, but Hsiu managed to give herself a three-stroke cushion by the end of it.  Burch replilcated her round score of 76 to hold on for a second place finish in her first ever appearance in the Conference Championship, taking home All-SCAC honors by virtue of her top five finish.

For her efforts in what has been a stellar debut season, Burch was named to the All-SCAC First Team.

For the rest of the field for Dallas, Clair Kirby shots a 92 to finish T18, kaylei Richardson shot a 92 to take 25th, Madi Meduna shot a 90 to take 26th, and Emma Christensen shot a 106 to finishd 34th.
