Women's Basketball Defeated by Colorado in SCAC Quarterfinals

February 23, 2024

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team were knocked out of the SCAC Championship Tournament by Colorado College on Friday.  The No. 6 seeded Crusaders were defeated by the No. 3 seeded Tigers 81-49.

The Tigers were white hot in the first half and quickly put themselves in the driver's seat.  Colorado shot 60% from the field in the first half and were nearly as good from beyond the arc, going 10-of-18 (55%) from three.

Dallas struggled to put away their chances, going just 5-of-29 from the field in the first half.  Colorado took a comfortable 32-point advantage into halftime.

It was a much different story in the second half, as the Crusaders matched the Tigers point-for-point in the third and fourth quarters.  Dallas was much improved, particularly in the fourth quarter where they shot 35% from the field and 57% from three.

After racking up 10 three pointers in the first half, the Tigers finished the second half with just four, all of them coming in the fourth quarter as they went oh fer from beyond the arc in the third quarter.

Despite the valiant second half effort, it was too little, too late for Dallas as their season comes to an end.

Adryan Alvarez led the charge for the Crusaders, putting up a new career-best with 32 points.  Alyssa Sullivan notched nine points and five rebounds in the final game of her career.

The Crusaders end the year with a 13-13 overall record and a 7-9 record in conference play.  This was the first time since the 2014-15 season they have finished the season at .500 or better.  It was also the first time since the Crusaders had qualified for the SCAC Championship Tournament in a full-length season since 2016-17.

The SCAC All-Conference teams will be announced tomorrow following the second semi-final game.
