Women's Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale to Colorado

February 18, 2024

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup against Colorado College 74-49 on Saturday, falling to 13-12 overall on the year and 7-9 in conference play.

The Crusaders dug themselves into a deep hole early with a lopsided first quarter.  Dallas shot just 18% from the field (3-of-16) while the Tigers jumped out to an early 20-8 lead shooting 64% in the first quarter.

Though the second quarter was much more even thanks to the Crusaders going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, Colorado still added to their lead and went into halftime up by 16.

Dallas began to look like themselves in the third quarter in terms of scoring, as they scored 14 points on 37.5% shooting, but the Tigers tilted some key factors in their favor to maintain and build on their lead in the third period: Colorado dominated the boards, out rebounding Dallas 19-4; they shot 33% (4-of-12) from beyond the arc, while Dallas missed all four of their three-point attempts; the Crusaders out fouled the Tigers 5-1, and Colorado capitalized going 6-of-8 from the line.

The Crusaders were at their best in the fourth quarter, shooting 44% from the field and going 6-of-8 from the free throw line to outscore the Tigers, but it was too little, too late as Colorado had built themselves a comfortable lead.

Caroline Croft was the only Dallas player in double-digit scoring, notching 11 points while going 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
