IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their conference matchup against Southwestern University 68-49 on Friday, improving to 13-9 overall on the year and 7-6 in conference play.

The Crusaders were in the driver's seat from start to finish, dominating the Pirates in the first quarter 18-4 on 40% shooting from the field.  They took advantage of some careless play by Southwestern, racking up five steals in the first quarter.

Though the Pirates were much better from the second quarter on, they were never able to cut into the deficit.  Dallas took a 15-point lead into halftime and led by as many as 27 points in the third quarter.  The only time Southwestern made any sort of headway was when the bench was rotated in late in the fourth, but the Crusaders had plenty of cushion to see out the win.

The Crusaders shot 42.9% on the night, marking the sixth time this season they have shot over 40% from the field in a single game.  They also recorded 11 steals, making it eight games this season with double-digit steals.

Maria Dicenta (pictured) led all players with 20 points, a new single-game high, going 7-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
