Crusaders Cruise Past Centenary

January 20, 2024

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their conference game against Centenary College 78-47 on Saturday, improving to 11-8 overall on the year and 5-5 in conference play.

The first quarter was tight as the two sides traded blows.  Dallas had the four-point edge going into the second period with a red-hot start, going 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the field in the first 10 minutes.

Though the Crusaders will be disappointed with going 0-of-4 from beyond the arc in the second quarter, they will be quite happy with dominating the Ladies, outscoring Centenary to the tune of 20-7 in the second period.  Dallas was in the driver's seat with a 40-23 lead going into halftime.

Centenary came out in the third quarter and made it a competitive game, matching Dallas blow for blow but unable to cut into the deficit.  Though not as productive as they were in the first or second quarters, Dallas was still quite efficient as they went 6-of-14 (42.9%) from the field as they were in the midst of one of their best shooting performances in recent memory.

The Crusaders couldn't miss in the fourth quarter as they piled on the points, going 11-of-14 (78.6%) from the field to extend their lead.  They finished the game with season-highs of 34 field goals and a .540 shooting percentage.  It was their third most points scored in a game this season.

With six games left in the regular season, Dallas has already matched their win total from the previous season.  It is the first time since the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons that the women's program has recorded back-to-back seasons with at least 11 wins.

Caroline Croft was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field, notching 14 points on the night to make it three of her last four games with at least 10 points scored.

Kat Santos (pictured, #33) was also perfect from the field, leading all players with 22 points while going 11-of-11 from the field.  Both are single-game highs for her, and it was the first time in over 20 years that a Crusader has been perfect from the field with over 10 field goal attempts in a single game.
