Crusaders Put Up Tough Fight in Loss to Colorado

January 14, 2024

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball lost their conference game against Colorado College 73-58 on Sunday, falling to 10-7 overall on the year and 4-4 in conference play.

Colorado stumbled out of the gate a bit, going 1-of-5 from the field in the first three and a half minutes.  Dallas briefly held the lead by going 3-of-6 to start the game, before Colorado settled in and made three of their next four to take a 12-6 lead.  The two sides traded blows in the final two minutes, as the Tigers went into the second quarter with a 16-11 lead.

It was neck and neck for the entire second quarter, but Dallas slowly chipped away at the lead.  They cut the deficit down to two points, having gone 6-of-12 from the field in a six minute span.  Colorado were 5-of-10 from the field in that same window, clinging to their lead.

Dallas outscored the Tigers 19-18 in the second quarter to go into halftime down by just four points.

The Crusaders did what they could to hang with the Tigers, but Colorado seemed to find another gear in the third quarter, shooting 57% from the field and 40% from three to go into the fourth quarter with a 12-point lead.  Dallas was solid in the third quarter, shooting 40% from the field, but didn't score a single three-pointer in the period.

Once again, the Crusaders were competitive in the fourth quarter, but Colorado kept their edge and padded their lead a further three points to close out the game.

Taylor Rawls (pictured) and Caroline Croft shared the team lead with 13 points each.  Croft also snagged 11 rebounds to record the second double-double of her career.

Alyssa Sullivan went 6-of-12 from the field to score 12 points, scoring 10+ points in consecutive games for the first time this season.
