Women's Basketball Come From Behind to Beat Hendrix

December 20, 2023

CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their non-conference matchup against Hendrix College 69-64 on Wednesday, improving to 8-5 overall on the year.

The opening minutes were even enough, but the Crusaders were slow to start, trailing by as many as 11 points in the first quarter.  The biggest difference between the two sides at this point was their three-point shooting, as Dallas was 0-of-7 while Hendrix was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc in the first quarter.

Dallas couldn't right the ship in the second quarter either, going just 3-of-13 in the period to go into halftime down 36-24.

But the Crusaders came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, shooting 61% (11-of-18) from the field and 63% (5-of-8) from beyond the arc to completely erase the deficit and take a 54-50 lead into the fourth quarter.

Maria Dicenta (pictured) was the hot hand for Dallas in the third, dropping 11 points while going 3-of-4 from three.

It was anybody's game in the fourth, but the Crusaders did just enough to hold on for the win and complete the season sweep of Hendrix.

Dicenta led Dallas with 13 points, with four other Crusaders notching double-digit points on the night: Kat Santos (10), Taylor Rawls (10), Caroline Croft (11), and Adryan Alvarez (11).
