Dallas Routs Ozarks in Final Pre-Season Game

November 26, 2023

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team defeated the University of the Ozarks 77-61 on Sunday, improving to 5-3 on the year to wrap up pre-season play.

The Crusaders got off to a slower start than they would have liked, shooting 29% in the first quarter, but kept the game tight with hard, physical defense.  Their physical play ultimately led to more trips to the line for Ozarks; that was the biggest difference in the first period, as the Eagles took a seven point lead by going 6-of-8 from the line.

Dallas came out in the second quarter and were nearly unstoppable for the rest of the game.  They shot a blistering 51.4% from the field across the second and third quarters, all while limiting the Eagles to just nine field goals on 26% shooting in the same span.

UD took a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter and led by as many as 22 points, closing out a comfortable win to wrap up the pre-conference schedule.  Their 44.3% shooting on the night is their best since defeating St. Thomas (TX.) 73-41 last February.

Five Crusaders scored double-digit points: Jordan Gillespie (11), Adryan Alvarez (11), Taylor Rawls (12), and Caroline Croft (pictured) and Ashley Hall shared the lead with 13 points each.

Hall had her best game of the season, shooting 75% going 6-of-8 from the field with two boards and a steal.  Croft posted a new single-game high with 12 rebounds, recording the first double-double of her career.
