Crusaders Start Hot, Fall Short vs UTD

November 25, 2023

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost to UT-Dallas 64-53 on Saturday, falling to 4-3 on the year.

Things couldn't have gone much better for the Crusaders to start the game.  Both teams were on their A-game on offense in the first quarter, but the Crusaders were on another planet as they went on to shoot 64% from the field, including 4-of-5 from three.

Though they couldn't possibly keep up that blistering pace for the entire game, they did enough in the second half against a very good shooting UTD team to go into halftime with a four-point lead at 38-34.

As high as their peak was in this game, however, their lows were of an equal magnitude.  The shots simply wouldn't fall for UD in the second half, as they scored just 15 points across the third and fourth quarters.  Of those 15 points, 12 were from the free throw line.  The Crusaders stayed in the game by virtue of the Comet's shooting percentage also plummeting in the fourth quarter as they went just 3-of-14 from the field.  UD was trailing by just six points with over three minutes to play, but didn't get any closer than that.

Adryan Alvarez led the Crusaders with 16 points, going 5-of-9 from the field for her second straight game with 15+ points.
