JACKSON, Miss. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost 68-41 to Millsaps on Sunday, falling to 3-2 on the season.
A bright start to the season came to a screeching halt with an anomalous performance by the Crusaders. The shots simply wouldn't fall against Millsaps this afternoon as the Crusaders shot 21.5% from the field, their worst single game shooting performance in over three years.
Dallas has shot at least 30% from the field in over 90% of their games since the start of the 2022-23 season, and hadn't shot below 25% since the end of the 2021-22 season.
Though the two sides were not far apart in total fouls (25 for UD, 20 for Millsaps), the Crusaders fouled in bunches. They racked up 10 fouls in the second quarter and 12 fouls in the third quarter, sending Millsaps to the line for a whopping 38 free throws in the game. Dallas shot just 18 free throws in the game.
The Crusaders were not at their best from the line either, going 10-of-18, and the Majors greatly padded their lead with the extra opportunities, going 28-of-38 from the line.
