Women's Basketball Defeated by Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference match against Schreiner University 61-46 on Saturday.  They fall to 10-13 overall on the year and 6-9 in conference play.

The Crusaders came out hot, quickly taking an 8-0 lead inside the first two minutes.  The Mountaineers came back and tied it up at 8-8 before Dallas rattled off seven unanswered points in the final two minutes to go into the second period up 15-8.

Despite the six minute scoring drought, Dallas shot well in the first quarter, going 7-of-14 from the field.

The game turned on a dime in the second quarter.  The Crusaders struggled mightily, going just 2-of-11 from the field without going to the free throw line once.  Schreiner pounced on the opportunity, taking an 18-17 lead after three minutes and never relinquishing it.

Dallas was outscored 21-4 in the period, giving Schreiner a 29-19 lead going into halftime.

The Crusaders were markedly better in the second half, but never reached the same heights as their first quarter play.  They were able to cut the deficit to seven points with 2:41 on the clock in the third quarter, but that would be the closest they got to tying the game.

Imani Hardin led the team with 12 points, going 6-of-9 from the field and snagging seven rebounds.  Jordan Gillespie led the team with 11 rebounds and led all players with two blocks.
