Women's Basketball Cruise to Win vs Austin College

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their conference match with Austin College 56-41 on Tuesday.  They improve to 8-10 overall on the season and 4-6 in conference play.

The game started off slow, as both teams struggled to get settled in.  The two teams combined for just five field goals the entire first quarter, with Dallas holding the narrow edge at 10-7.

Dallas would surge a bit in the second quarter, thanks in no small part to Ashley Hall who put up 11 points in five minutes off the bench going 4-of-5 from the field.  She accounted for nearly all of UD's points in the quarter and would give the Crusaders an 11-point cushion going into halftime, the team having held Austin to single digit points in consecutive quarters.

Their lead only grew in the third quarter as Dallas, once again, held Austin to under 10 points for the period.  The Crusaders let their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, allowing the Roos to cut the deficit to single digits at point after leading by as many as 24.  But they regained their form in time stave off a late comeback and win by a comfortable 15-point margin.

Hall led all players with 17 points, tying her career-high that she set on the road at Centenary earlier this season.  Caroline Croft was one point away from her first career double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Jordan Gillespie led all players with 11 rebounds.
