Women's Basketball Defeated in Overtime by ABU

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their non-conference match with Arlington Baptist University 72-70 in overtime on Tuesday.  They fall to 7-8 overall on the year.

The Crusaders got off to a painfully slow start, making just one field goal and two free throws in the entire first quarter.  The Patriots quickly took a 17-4 lead as a result, but that form would not last for long.

Dallas quickly righted the ship in the second quarter, going 8-of-13 from the field, scoring 25 points and cutting the deficit to just six points by halftime.  From there, it was neck and neck in the second half, with the Crusaders able to come all the way back and tie the game in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

It was still a back and forth game in the overtime period, but ABU had the last laugh, scoring the go-ahead layup with less than a second left on the clock.  The Crusaders did manage to get a shot off at the buzzer, but the ball rattled off the rim and out to give the Patriots the win.

Jordan Gillespie dominated the boards, tying her career best with 15 rebounds on the night.  Alyssa Sullivan led the team with 15 points, going 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from deep.
