Crusaders Go Toe-to-Toe With #3 Trinity

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference match with #3 Trinity University 78-67 on Friday.  They fall to 7-6 overall on the year and are 3-3 in conference play.

The Crusaders got off to a bumpy start, as the nationally ranked #3 Tigers took what appeared to be firm control of the game with a 34-17 lead after the first 10 minutes.

For the next 20 minutes, Dallas shook the world of Division III basketball, as they went on to simply outplay Trinity in the second and third quarter.  The Crusaders had placed themselves firmly in the driver's seat, and Trinity had no answer as they shot a paltry 28% from the field in that span.  And on the back of a four game winning streak, why not this Crusaders team to topple the Tigers?

But it wasn't meant to be.  Though UD were trailing by just two points going into the fourth quarter, having nearly erased early deficit from the first quarter, Trinity scored 13 unanswered points in the first five minutes of the period to build that lead back up.

The Crusaders battled, but never got themselves within 10 points as the Tigers maintained their unbeaten streak.  Dallas' winning streak came to an end at four games, the best streak for the program since the 2016-17 season.  At 3-3 in conference play, it is also the first time they have been .500 through six conference games since the 2014-15 season.

Alyssa Sullivan put in 33 minutes off the bench and led the team with 15 points and two steals, going 6-of-12 from the field.  The Crusaders shot 32% from three as a team and outrebounded the Tigers 42-30.
