Women's Basketball Defeats Centenary for Third Straight Win

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their conference match with Centenary College 68-44 on Friday.  They improve to 6-5 overall on the year and are now 2-2 in conference play.

The Crusaders started off the game ice cold, making just one basket in the first five minutes.  They managed to string some points together as the period wore on, but still found themselves trailing 12-11 going into the second period.

Dallas weren't faring much better in the second quarter, going two for their first eight attempts from the field, though they had reclaimed an 18-12 lead at that point.  But they found a new gear with five minutes left in the half and would go on to score their third most points in a single quarter this season, going 9-of-16 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free throw line for 29 points to take a 40-20 lead into halftime.

The Crusaders led by as many as 30 points and their lead never dipped below 20 as they cruised to their third straight win.  Their three straight wins is the most for the program since starting the 2016-2017 season 6-1, rattling off six straight wins.  It is also the first time the team has been .500 through four conference games since the 2013-2014 season.

Ashley Hall put in 28 minutes off the bench to lead the team with 17 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line with six rebounds.  Adyran Alvarez was right behind with 16 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench, and Tessa Hastings added 14 points, five rebounds, and led the team with three assists.  Jordan Gillespie dominated the boards, leading the team with 11 rebounds.
