Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener to Webster

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team started their season at the Webster Tip-Off Classic, playing their first game against the hosting Gorloks.  They lost 82-55 to start the season 0-1.

The Crusaders matched Webster nearly blow for blow in the first quarter, but the Gorloks slowly pulled away in the second quarter, taking a 13 point lead into halftime.

Dallas were at their best in the third quarter, but Webster were equal to the task as the two sides once again went toe-to-toe.  The Crusaders got off to a hot start in the period and cut the deficit down to five at one point, but the Gorloks were able to reestablish their 13 point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Though the Crusaders hung tight with Webster for much of the final period, the Gorlocks outscored them 10-0 in the final two minutes of the game to pull comfortably away and seal the win.

Adryan Alvarez led the team with 16 points, going 6-16 from the floor in 22 minutes played.  The Crusaders' post presence was strong, tallying 42 rebounds and outlbocking Webster 6-4.
