Schreiner Come from Behind to Defeat Crusaders

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Schreiner University 91-80 Saturday night.  They fall to 5-17 on the year and 2-12 in conference play.

Though they had some trouble taking care of the ball, the Crusaders were shooting the best they have all season in the early stages of the game.  For nearly 15 minutes, they couldn't miss, shooting 59% from the floor and  63% from beyond the arc.  The Crusaders led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, but the Mountaineers came roaring back with 13 unasnwered points to close the gap.  when all was said and done, it was all tied up at the half.

Both offenses were explosive in the third quarter, but the Crusaders once again had the edge thanks to some stellar shooting.  They went 8-12 from the floor, and through three quarters of basketball were still shooting 62% from three, Canai McPherson and Adryan Alvarez accounting for nearly all of the Crusaders three-pointers.  Dallas led by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter, but the game turned on a dime when the Mountaineers went on another big run, this time scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 76-71 lead with just under four minutes to play.  The Crusaders would never be closer than three points off the lead, as Schreiner pulled away late to seal the deal.

McPherson led all players with 25 points, going 11-12 from the free throw line and 4-6 from three.  Alvarez was right behind with 22 points, also going 4-6 from three.
