McPherson Drops 35 in Tight Loss to Southwestern

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Southwestern University 66-61 this evening.  They fall to 4-10 on the year and 2-5 in conference play.

The Pirates held the slight edge for much of the game, but the Crusaders hung tight all the way, trailing by just five at half time.  Canai McPherson had 12 points at the break, but she would find another gear to carry the team in the second half.

Though Southwestern amassed a 12 point lead in the third quarter, the Crusaders nearly completely erased the deficit, going into the fourth quarter down 40-38.  The Crusaders late push coincided with McPherson's second half surge, as the freshman went on to drop a season-high 35 points on the night, 23 of them coming in the second half.  Dallas were withing four points inside the final minute, but couldn't close the gap as the Pirates saw out the win.

Imani Hardin was a force to be rekoned with on the boards, grabbing 20 rebounds and scoring 13 points for her third double-double of the season.
