Crusaders Defeated by Colorado Despite First Quarter Flurry

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Colorado College 102-62 this evening.  They fall to 3-8 on the year and 1-3 in conference.

Dallas got off to a simply meteoric start against the Tigers, putting together what was inarguably the best 10 minutes of basketball they have played all season.  The Crusaders shot 57% as a team, going 12-21 from the field, incudling five three-pointers (5-10) to amass 32 points in the first quarter.  Canai McPherson led all players with 13 points at the first break, going 3-4 from beyond the arc.  Despite the offensive flurry by the Crusaders, the Tigers were right on their heels as Dallas took a narrow 32-29 lead into the second quarter.

Unfortunately, that would be where the fairytale ended for the Crusaders, who struggled mightily for the remainder of the game.  The Tigers maintained a steady output to eventually overcome the deficit and build a comfortable lead; Dallas made just seven field goals the rest of the way, shooting 15% as a team (7-46).  The 40-point margin made it the biggest loss since the Crusaders 94-36 defeat at the hands of #14 Trinity in February 2020.

McPherson still ended up being the game's leading scorer with 20 points, while Adryan Alvarez provided 14 points in 22 minutes off the bench.
