Crusaders Fall to Austin at Home

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team lost their conference matchup with Austin College 79-51 this evening.  They fall to 3-7 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.

The Crusaders struggled out of the gate, going 0-13 to start the first quarter.  The Roos meanwhile were six for their first nine attempts from the field (6-9) to take an early 15-5 lead, the Crusaders points coming solely from the free throw line.  While the second quarter was certainly better for Dallas, their struggles largely continued as they shot 29% in the quarter and 17% for the half.  The Roos took a 20 point lead into halftime, the Crusaders having quite the mountain to climb.

In the third quarter, Dallas seemed as though they had it in them to climb that mountain.  Though they couldn't chip away at the lead, they found their scoring touch and were having an excellent game from the free throw line; if they could have kept that run of form and gotten some defensive stops, they were right back in it.  But they could do little to stop Austin, who were consistent in their shooting across all four quarters, and having three of their starters in foul trouble going into the fourth certainly derailed some plans.  In the end, it would be a comfortable margin of victory for the Roos.

Alyssa Sullivan lead the Crusaders with 12 points off the bench, going 4-10 from the field and 4-6 from the line.  Imani hardin led the team with nine rebounds, despite fouling out with seven minutes left in the game.
