Women's Basketball Grabs First Conference Win vs Centenary

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's basketball team won their conference matchup with Centenary College 60-43 this evening.  They improve to 3-6 on the year and 1-1 in conference play

The Crusaders didn't set the world ablaze with their shooting in the first quarter, going 6-19 from the field, but their defense was stifling, holding Centenary to just two buckets in the opening 10 minutes.  The Ladies bounced back in the second quarter to outscore Dallas, but the Crusaders gave themselves plenty of cushion and took a nine point lead into halftime.  Centenary would finish the half with a dismal 17% shooting performance from the field.

Dallas put together one of their best quarters of the season, dropping 23 points, their second most in a single quarter this season, while shooting 60% from the field (6-10).  The Crusaders took a 17 point lead into the fourth quarter and held it, going blow-for-blow with the Ladies to see out their first conference win.

Canai McPherson had another big game for the Crusaders, dropping 16 of her 21 points in the second half to lead all players in scoring.  Imani Hardin dominated the glass tonight with a game leading 15 rebounds, accounting for nearly half of the Crusaders' rebounds on the night.  Alyssa Sullivan provided a crucial 12 points, coming off the bench and going 6-8 from the field.
