(UPDATED) Vera Overcomes Adversity to do the Sport she Loves; Watch Complete Interview
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - University of Dallas women's basketball Alexis Vera was featured on a comeback story on KABB Fox 29 and News 4 San Antonio. Vera played 19 games for the Crusaders her freshman year in 2018-19. The point guard ranked top three on the team in steals and assists. However, injuries have prevented Vera from suiting up on the court the past two years, but she is still part of the team in a new capacity. She is a student assistant that helps head coach Bri Calver, who enters her third season leading UD, at home and away games. She is at practices and is one of the loudest you will hear on the Crusaders' bench.

Vera was part of a coaching staff in 2020-21 headed by Calver that saw the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) coaches recognized as Coach of the Year for the league. Vera became the first Student-Athlete Senator in Student Government and is also the school's secretary on Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
